What is the Cookpole News?
The Cookpole News began as the newsletter for the villages of Cookley and Walpole in northeast Suffolk. It was founded in 1990 by Edward Thomas and Linda Holmes and for 20 years it appeared roughly quarterly and was distributed in paper form to all households.
From 2008 until 2011 the Cookpole News was published online and then developed into a community website.
Following the departure of the webmaster, Paul Crozer, we decided to bring the website "inhouse" in February 2014 by adopting the OneSuffolk model which is used throughout the county.
Three months after our lauch we were delighted to be honoured with an award at the Onesuffolk Tenth anniversary ceremony in May 2014 - one of fourteen websites chosen from over four hundred.
A paper version with selected news and information is still distributed to those without access to the internet.
