The "COOKPOLE COMMUNITY" or simply 'Cookpole' is the working title for the Walpole and Cookley Playing Field Trust, a registered charity, and is the fusion of the former Community Council and the Playing Field Trust. Basically the Trustees look after the Community Pavilion and the Playing Field, arrange and promote all the social activities for the Parishes of Cookley and Walpole : Autumn Lunch, fêtes, open gardens, Car Boots, quiz nights etc etc
The Committee meets in the Pavilion at 7.30 pm on the second Thursday of each month and consists of the following residents:
New volunteers are always warmly welcome to join us to bring enthusiasm and fresh ideas to community life and activities. Everyone in 'Cookpole' enjoys the friendly positive atmosphere of the committee, so if you would like to be part of the action - whether you live in Cookley or Walpole - please get in touch.
CIRCULAR WALK - The walk around the perimeter of the Playing Field which runs from the main gate to the pavilion is regularly used and enjoyed. We have planted three special new trees along the route thanks to the kind donation of a token for Botanica nursery by Hazel Acketts, in fond memory of her late husband Ron. The plan is to purchase a piece of exercise equipment to use along the path - plus a bench to recover on afterwards!
Thanks to Will Austin for his grass cutting and maintenance of the path and the group of newly planted trees.
THE PLAYGROUND - we hope to replace the slide and the climbing frame this year.
