The sun shone on Cookley and Walpole's annual Autumn Lunch on Sunday, 12th October, which was fortunate for the cooks/chefs who were trying to deliver hot food and delicious desserts to the Pavilion.
Many hands had made light work of preparing the scene - tables arranged in a horseshoe shape this year to make conversation easier, beautiful fresh flower arrangements, bowls of crisps to nibble with the first (free) drink.
Thirty four residents and friends enjoyed Jamie Oliver's pork tray bake or the vegetarian alternative with halloumi cheese, followed by a fabulous choice of desserts, which included chocolate roulade, cheesecake, apricot brioche and many more. Coffee and mints rounded off the meal.
All ages were there, from school age children to more mature people in their eighties or even nineties. The atmosphere was delightful, conversation flowed freely and there was much laughter. For many, it was a good chance to catch up on local news and gossip.
A very successful raffle was held, raising £82 - this will go towards the upkeep of the Pavilion.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this such an enjoyable occasion.
Look out for the date of the 2015 Autumn Lunch.
