This fine oak bench sited during the summer on the circular walk around the Walpole Playing field, was made by the Orwell Mencap workshop and financed by a grant from our District Councillor Stephen Burroughes from his Locality Budget - so some of our Council Tax has come back to the community! Thank you Stephen.
It offers walkers a place to pause and take in the view across the playing field to farmland beyond. One suggestion has been made to put up nesting boxes in some of the trees next spring for added interest.
The three taller newly planted trees are doing well and the smaller whips have been cleared which will help their chances. We planted a few primroses and bluebells last year. Let's hope they re-emerge!
